Fitness Center Pool Complaint
You recently signed up for a 12-month membership at a local fitness center. Two months in, the swimming pool — the main reason you joined — has been closed for repairs with no reopening date announced. The staff have not offered any compensation. Write an email to the fitness centre manager about this situation.
- Explain why you originally joined the fitness center.
- Describe the problem and how it has affected you.
- Request a specific solution (refund, extension, or compensation).

How the four CELPIP Writing criteria work
CELPIP Writing is marked on four criteria, and each is reported on the same 1–12 scale as your overall level, which equals your CLB. The checker gives a level and a reason for each, so you can see which one is holding the others back.
Content/Coherence
Are your ideas relevant, developed with real detail, and in an order the reader can follow? A clear opening purpose, one point per paragraph and connectors that show how the points relate are what move this score.
Vocabulary
Range and precision of your words, and whether the register fits the reader. A complaint to a manager and a note to a friend need different words for the same idea.
Readability
Paragraphing, grammar, spelling and punctuation — how easily the reader gets through your text. Errors do not cap your level on their own, but many of them slow the reader down.
Task Fulfillment
Did you do everything the prompt asked, for the right reader, in the right tone, at the right length? In Task 1 that means every bullet point; in Task 2, a clear choice and reasons for it.

In the notes the marker writes, four patterns make up 53% of everything it flags in Writing (1,085 notes on 336 answers, 26 July – 28 September 2026):
Verb form and agreement
15.0%The wrong tense, a missing auxiliary, or a subject and verb that do not match — “every staffs are”, “would be appreciate”.
Subject–verb agreement →Articles and prepositions
14.1%A missing or wrong a / an / the, or the wrong preposition inside a fixed phrase — “concerned for the delay”.
Articles: a, an, the →Spelling
13.0%Ordinary misspellings, most often in exactly the longer words the writer reached for on purpose.
Top grammar mistakes →Word choice and idiom
10.9%A real word used imprecisely, or a pairing no one says. The meaning survives; the score does not.
Building CELPIP vocabulary →Every pattern, counted, is on the most common CELPIP mistakes; score distributions are on CELPIP score data.
What the checker can and cannot tell you
- It marks one answer. The real CELPIP Writing test has two tasks, and your Writing level comes from both.
- The result is an estimate from an AI marker calibrated to the published level descriptors — not an official CELPIP score.
- It cannot see how long you took. On test day you have 27 minutes for Task 1 and 26 for Task 2; an answer polished for an hour will score higher than you would under the clock.
- Guests get one free check a day. When the day’s free checks run out, the page says so; they open again at midnight Pacific time.
Mark both tasks under exam timing
A full timed mock marks Task 1 and Task 2 together — plus Reading, Listening and Speaking — with the same marker and a report per criterion.
Questions people ask
Is this CELPIP Writing checker really free?
Yes. One answer a day is marked free with no account and no email address. Signed-in learners use the Smart Evaluations that come with their plan instead.
Is the CLB estimate my official CELPIP score?
No. It is an estimate from our AI marker, which is calibrated to the published CELPIP Writing level descriptors but is not Paragon Testing Enterprises. Only the real test gives an official score. Use the estimate and the four criteria to decide what to work on.
How long should my answer be?
The real tasks ask for 150 to 200 words. The checker needs at least 50 words to mark anything, and marks one answer of up to 400 words. Going far past 200 words does not raise a score on its own.
Can I check my own prompt?
Yes. Choose “Paste my own prompt” and paste the task you answered with your response. Without the prompt the marker cannot judge Task Fulfillment, so paste it in full.
Is the same marker used in the full mock exams?
Yes. The checker sends your answer to the same marker, with the same rubric, that marks Writing in our practice tasks and full mock exams.
What happens to the text I paste?
It is stored so it can be marked and so you can reopen your result from the same link. It is never published. If you create an account from this browser, the result is saved to it.
