195 words · no sign-upI would choose Option B, funding programs for teenagers, because young people in our town have very few safe places to spend their free time. My first reason is that there is a clear gap after school. Most parents work until five or six, so many teenagers are on their own for several hours every afternoon. Right now, the only places they can go are the mall or the parking lot behind the arena, where there have been problems with vandalism. A drop-in centre with supervision, homework help and a few computers would give them somewhere positive to go. My second reason is that sports leagues build skills that last. When I was fifteen, joining a basketball league taught me teamwork and discipline, and my coach later wrote a reference letter for my first job. Low-cost leagues would allow families who cannot afford private clubs to give their children the same opportunity. Seniors certainly deserve support as well, and loneliness is a serious issue. However, our community centre already offers several programs for older residents, while teenagers have almost nothing. For these reasons, I believe Option B would have the greatest impact on our community.
Why this answer works
- It identifies a precise problem, unsupervised afternoons and vandalism behind the arena, to justify the choice.
- The personal story about the basketball coach and reference letter illustrates a lasting benefit.
- It acknowledges seniors' loneliness respectfully and counters with a factual comparison of existing programs.
