138 words · no sign-upWhen I was a student in London, Ontario, I shared an apartment with a roommate named Josh, and we kept arguing about cleaning. I thought he never washed his dishes, and he thought I was too strict. For a few weeks we barely talked, which was really uncomfortable in a small apartment. One evening I decided to stop complaining and actually sit down with him. We ordered some food and made a simple list of chores, and we agreed to switch every week. We also agreed that dishes had to be done by the next morning, not immediately, which was his main concern. It wasn't perfect, but it worked much better. By the end of the year we were good friends. I learned that most arguments are easier to solve when you listen to the other person's side.
Why this answer works
- Presents both points of view fairly, which shows the speaker can handle more complex ideas.
- Describes the solution step by step (made a list, agreed to switch, agreed on dishes).
- A brief, clear lesson in the last sentence closes the answer well.
