Speaking Task 4: Making Predictions

In this picture is raining very strong and is almost night. Many people are waiting in the bus stop, maybe eight or nine. They look cold. One woman have a yellow coat and she is looking inside her bag, I think for umbrella, but she don't find. And the tree is moving because the wind is strong. Also the red bus is coming in the street. So next, I think the bus will come and all the people will go inside, because inside is warm. The boy with the newspaper on his head, he will run also.

In the picture it is raining very hard and there are a lot of people standing under the bus shelter. It is evening and the street lamps are already on. A woman in a yellow coat is looking inside her bag. I think she is trying to find her umbrella. On the left side there is a red bus coming, but it is still far away. So I think the bus will arrive in a few minutes and everybody will get on it very fast. They will push a little because they all want to be inside first. The boy who is holding a newspaper over his head will be wet already.

The real subject of this picture isn't the rain, it's the waiting. Eight or nine strangers are packed under one glass roof with nothing in common except that red bus, still crawling towards them through a flooded street. So the next minute belongs to the bus. It'll reach the kerb and throw a sheet of dirty water over whoever is standing nearest the edge, and the moment the doors open the polite little truce under that shelter will collapse and everybody will push forward at once. The woman in the mustard coat will give up on the umbrella unfound, because there's no dignity in rummaging through a tote bag while a queue forms behind you. The lad outside will climb aboard with his newspaper reduced to pulp. And I doubt a word gets said; they'll just steam quietly all the way home, while that young tree keeps stripping leaves onto the road behind them.
