Pick a test date and centre through Paragon's finder and register using the exact ID you'll bring on test day.

How much does CELPIP registration cost?
CELPIP-General costs $299 + taxes and CELPIP-General LS costs $199 + taxes, per Paragon's current test-format page. Older Paragon product pages still show $290 and $195, so confirm the exact amount at checkout.
What ID do I need to register for CELPIP?
Register with the original, valid ID you plan to bring on test day, and make sure its name and document number exactly match your registration. Photocopies or scans aren't accepted, and mismatched ID means you can't take the test or get a refund.
Can I change or cancel my CELPIP registration?
Yes: you can transfer to another sitting of the same test type at least 7 days before your test, with the first transfer free and later ones $50 plus taxes. Cancelling by that same 7-day cutoff gets a 50% refund; registrations can't be transferred to another person.
Key strategies
  • 1.Register online at celpip.ca: test centres do not take registrations, and there is no walk-in registration.
  • 2.Pick the right test: IRCC accepts CELPIP-General for immigration and citizenship, and CELPIP-General LS for citizenship only.
  • 3.Budget $299 + taxes for CELPIP-General or $199 + taxes for CELPIP-General LS (Paragon's test-format page, Canadian price).
  • 4.Register with the ID you will bring: it must be original, valid and the same document, with the same name and number.
  • 5.Change plans at least 7 days ahead: the first transfer is free, and cancelling at that point refunds 50%.

You book CELPIP online on celpip.ca. Paragon says CELPIP test centres do not process any registration applications and that online is "the best and easiest way to register", so there is no walk-in registration (celpip.ca, Test Overview). Test takers under 18 register with a separate form (celpip.ca, Policies & Forms).

Step 1: Choose the right test

Step 2: Know the fee

Paragon's test-format page lists (celpip.ca, Test Format):

  • CELPIP-General: $299 + taxes
  • CELPIP-General LS: $199 + taxes

Paragon calls these the Canadian price and says international pricing varies. Its older product pages still show $290 + taxes (CELPIP-General) and $195 + taxes (CELPIP-General LS) (CELPIP-General page; CELPIP-General LS page). The two pages disagree, so budget with the higher figure and check the amount at checkout.

Step 3: Pick a date and a test centre

Use Paragon's test-date finder to filter by location, test type and date (celpip.ca, Find a Test Date). Check-in closes 15 minutes before the scheduled start time, and anyone who arrives after that is denied entrance and gets no refund or transfer (celpip.ca, Test Day Information).

Step 4: Register with the ID you will bring

On test day you must bring the original, valid ID you used to register. It must match your registration details, including your full name and document number. Photocopies and scans are not accepted. If your ID does not meet the rules, you will not be allowed to take the test, and you cannot transfer the test or get a refund (celpip.ca, Test Day Information).

How long the test takes

  • CELPIP-General: Listening 46–55 minutes, Reading 43–56 minutes, Writing 53 minutes, Speaking 15 minutes, in one sitting of under 3 hours.
  • CELPIP-General LS: about 1 hour 10 minutes in one sitting.

Changing or cancelling

From Paragon's policies (celpip.ca, Policies & Forms):

  • Transfer to another sitting of the same test type in your CELPIP Account, at least 7 days before your test. The first transfer is free. Each later transfer costs $50.00 or the equivalent, plus taxes.
  • Cancel at least 7 calendar days before the test and you get a 50% refund.
