CLB 7 → CLB 9 in 6 weeks

An estimate to plan with, not a score promise
  1. Week 1
    Baseline and format
    • •Sit one full timed mock test (about 3 hours) and note the CLB estimate for each skill.
    • •Learn the format: Listening 6 parts, Reading 4 parts, Writing 2 tasks, Speaking 8 tasks.
    • •Your lowest skill on the mock becomes your weakest skill — it gets extra time every week.
  2. Week 2
    Your weakest skill + WritingWriting
    • •Your weakest skill from the first mock: one timed exercise a day.
    • •Task 1 (email, 150–200 words in 27 min): two timed emails, each checked against the four scoring criteria.
    • •Short timed practice every day beats one long weekend session.
  3. Week 3
    Progress mock
    • •Sit a second full timed mock and compare each skill with week 1.
    • •Any skill that did not move gets two sessions a week until the end.
    • •Your weakest skill from the first mock: one timed exercise a day.
  4. Week 4
    Your weakest skill + ReadingReading
    • •Your weakest skill from the first mock: one timed exercise a day.
    • •Two timed Reading parts; for every wrong answer write why (vocabulary, speed, misread question).
    • •Short timed practice every day beats one long weekend session.
  5. Week 5
    Rehearsal mock
    • •Sit a full mock at the same time of day as your real test.
    • •Spend the rest of the week on the errors it shows — nothing new.
  6. Week 6
    Light week
    • •Skim your templates and phrase lists; one short speaking warm-up a day.
    • •No full tests in the last two days. Confirm your ID and test centre.
Start week 1 — the first mock is freeSet your target in your dashboard and it gives you a daily focus.

What changes with your target

Aiming for CLB 7

At this level most lost points are format and pacing, not English. Spend the first weeks on timed practice in all four skills, make sure every Writing response covers every point in the prompt, and use the full Speaking response time without rushing.

Aiming for CLB 8

Keep the timed practice, and add accuracy work: review every Reading and Listening mistake for its cause, and fix the grammar errors that come back in your Writing feedback more than once.

Aiming for CLB 9

Writing and Speaking are usually what hold people below CLB 9. Give your weakest of the two a session every day, compare your answers with CLB 9 samples, and work on precise vocabulary and clear organisation rather than length.

Aiming for CLB 10 or higher

At the top of the scale small slips decide the result. Rehearse under full test conditions, re-record Speaking tasks until there are no long pauses, and proofread every Writing response in the last minutes.

How the plan is built

Every plan starts with a full timed mock test, because the first job is to find your weakest skill. The middle weeks pair that skill with one other skill each week, all under time — CELPIP-General is about three hours long and every section is strictly timed. A progress mock in the middle of longer plans shows what is moving, a rehearsal mock comes about a week before the test, and the last week is light.

Short on time? Use the day-by-day 2-week plan. The section timings are on the CELPIP test format page.

Frequently asked questions

How long should I study for CELPIP?

It depends on the gap between your current level and your target. Two weeks is enough to learn the format and lift one skill by about one CLB level if you already use English daily; if several skills are two or more levels below your target, plan for four to eight weeks.

How many mock tests should I take?

Two or three full timed mocks: one at the start to find your weakest skill, one around the middle to check progress, and one rehearsal about a week before the test. Celpip.me includes one free full-length mock test.

Which skill should I practise most?

Your weakest one. Program requirements and CRS points are counted per skill, so the lowest skill usually matters more than your average.

Is this plan a score guarantee?

No. It is Celpip.me's recommended structure for your preparation. Your official CELPIP score comes only from the real test.
